Kathryn Indiek
Kathryn Indiek, an accomplished celebrity portrait photographer and photographic artist, is the founder of Soultage, a photography studio dedicated to taking "soul portraits," a "photographic portrait designed to call forth your soul's potential by capturing your essence or being."
The inspiration behind Soultage was Kathryn's deep desire, after years of photographing celebrities, to create portraits more profound and meaningful--both to herself and her clients.
Kathryn launched her career in photography at Mattel Toys, where she served as an Art Director. In 1996, she moved to Hollywood.com, where she co-created their celebrity website, "Press Room", and photographed celebrities at award shows such as the Oscars, Emmys and the Grammys. Since 1999 Kathryn has been a free-lance photographer working with such personalities as Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Cher. Her photographs have been published in People, Us and Time magazines among others and have also been featured on CD covers, in books and a calendar.
Kathryn first discovered her love and gift for photography when her cherished 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Dallas, introduced her to the camera and the magic of photography.
Kathryn is fascinated by the ability of a photograph to capture what lies beyond the physical, material level. "At its best, photography is alchemy," Kathryn believes. "It's a transformative process that can capture the essence that lies beyond the image. Creating that alchemy is my intention each time I take a soul portrait."
Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography with a concentration in portraiture from Brooks Institute, one of the top photography schools in the country. She also holds a Masters in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
A powerful and deep, yet gentle and playful soul, Kathryn loves cartwheels, chasing fireflies and walking her dog, Ally. She enjoys sculpture, pottery and any other excuse to play in the mud. She is most known for her goofy laugh and her contagious smile.
About Soul Portraits
Inside each of us is a spiritual longing to know our soul's mission. To fulfill our true purpose for being here. Soultage's soul portraits assist us in connecting to and stepping into that purpose.
A soul portrait is a photographic portrait designed to call forth your soul's potential by capturing your essence or "being." The photograph is created in an environment sacred to you. You are surrounded by symbolic images, colors, and objects that act as beacons or touchstones, bringing you into alignment with your highest self. It is a "dream board" for the soul, one that is both a work of art and a powerful tool of manifestation.
Soul portraits represent a fresh approach to photography. The intention behind a soul portrait differs from that of a traditional photograph. Typically, a photograph captures a fleeting moment in time, serving to preserve a memory in the past. By contrast, a soul portrait is designed to capture our divinity and help reveal to us the memory of who we truly are. Rather than memorialize the past, a soul portrait propels us into our future. Instead of locking us into who we have been, it beckons us into who we are becoming.
